About once a month I buy an album, based on a track I hear on BBC6 Music. This was one of those albums. I've had a few mis-fires on this basis, but this is not one of those. The initial track eases you in gently, before jarring into Curve of Love, which is a complete delight and what drew me in originally. This sets the tone for the rest of the album, which is wonderfully packed with what sound like carefully crafted melodies. The album is packed with gentle slide guitars and laconic vocals. I thought it was a bit lightweight to start with, but it keeps drawing me back with its gentle charms and hooks. The only criticism is that the last couple of tracks are a bit too easy listening for my taste, but at 40 minutes total they don't damage the overall experience. Time will tell if the overall album endures, but the recall and demand from my head to listen again bodes very well for it.
