Sweet Revenge Rebecca ZanettiPicking up or rather continuing on with the story of four brothers (Jory the youngest believed dead), genetically altered to be the ultimate warriors/killing machines, created by doctors and scientist and members of a Black-ops Military Unit. If you have not read the first book of this brand new series that is where you need to start. These are not stand alone reads. And I think I’ll end up giving some spoilers.Matt the eldest of the gray brothers (identified as such because of their eye color) was the protector of his brothers, his family. They only had each other. So when their youngest brother was captured and shot Matt carried this guilt around because he died alone. After their escape from the camp and on the run it was discovered these ultimate killing machines had an expiration date. A chip was surgically implanted in their spines as a safety measure by the evil Commander so if anyone goes rouge he’d have the option to destroy any of them. So imagine finding this out and realizing you only have 6 weeks to live unless you found the doctor who surgically implanted them and forced her to help with their removal. This is where Sweet Revenge starts. After searching and trying to locate the female Doctor Shane thinks he’s narrowed it down to three in Charmed Idaho and that’s where Matt is heading. Before Matt reaches Charmed he is jumped and stabbed pretty badly so when he rolls up into the little town his first objective is to find shelter and take care of his wounds. When he pulls into an alley he hears a female voice calling someone’s name. It’s Laney Jacobs the owner of the bar and she’s actually calling for her cat. She spots Matt and runs to him seeing he’s injured but she doesn’t really see the amount of blood he’s lost until she helps him into the bar. When she goes to clean him up she passes out cold. Matt quickly lays her out and looks for anything to stitch up his wounds. And so the story begins. Laney ends up hiring Matt for two weeks to help with the bar since her bouncer/bartender ran off to get married. Wow what an unbelievable love story. Matt and Laney are drawn to each other quickly. They both have major secrets (especially Laney) and try desperately to fight their attraction. When Shane gives Matt the info on the three possible women who could be the Doctor they are looking for his mission starts. But because of his attraction and possessiveness towards Laney he has to try and find a different way to approach them, he can’t use his normal method of seduction. Matt doesn’t understand these new feelings Laney is bringing out in him and he’s afraid his focus is off the mission which he can’t allow. There are several twists in this story and the major one involving Laney literally had my jaw drop to the floor. I can honestly say I never ever saw that one coming.Rebecca introduces a few new characters in this story Tasha who is the coroner and Frant who is a reporter, but are two sick and twisted characters. I was floored at this twist in the plot. Tasha also reveals something to Laney while Laney is being held prisoner about Jory, the youngest brother whom they thought dead, now Jory may not be dead after all but being held in another location. She also brings back the Commander and Dr. Madison, and Emery the sadistic bully who basically grew up with Matt and his brothers. Finally Matt takes care of business with Emery which should have been done in the first book but he wanted to give the guy a chance. Dr. Madison brings back some bad memories for Nate. You see Nate had fallen in love with Dr. Madison’s daughter Audrey, but she hurt and betrayed him and almost killed him. When they raided the Compound in Colorado they were able to copy a cache of files with hopes of finding what they were looking for. The last file they viewed revealed an unbelievable twist that makes this series better and better. Now the brothers only have 5 weeks to find the computer and the code to deactivate the chips so they can be removed. But with the latest twist thrown at the readers and a sneak peak of Blind Faith we’ll need to hold onto our hearts and remember to breath. Rebecca I give Sweet Revenge 5* and can’t wait for the next installment of Sin Brothers. This is one series that won’t disappoint.
