Food was fine, but had to put dog down before he got to eat much! This is great dog food. Abundant meat sources and biologically-appropriate organ meats (think wolf ancestry, our doggos may not be wolves phenotypically but much, MUCH of their genome and metobolic preferences do remain). The fact that legumes start very much after all the main meats instead of being ingredient #2 or #3 in the ingredient list is a statement in and of itself. Then followed by more meats. Definitely recommended. I used to feed my Shih-Tzu the canidae Small Breed Raw Coated Salmon food; it's also high quality and SMELLS like healthy, fishy dog food, but the fact that peas and legumes are 3rd+ on the list of its limited ingredients worries me, given the FDA observation of grain-free foods and DCM (since then it's suspected that the culprit is not an ingredient per se (peas) but the *ratio* of peas as a grain substitute in dog food. Given that, the *placement* on the ingredient list is important, and by the time I read "lentils, beans" and then further down the list peas, it was a sigh of relief and approval.UPDATE: my Shih-Tzu absolutely loves this food, to the point that some mannerisms (he would normally wait for me to arrive to *consider* eating; he would often leave the food in the bowl for hours before digging in) just stopped. I have a smart feeder and that food is LONG GONE before I find out. I thought the larger kibble would be an issue but apparently, he doesn't care—he chomps this down like no kibble before it. His stools are more firm and as if the food was well-digested instead of having spots of undigested kibble pieces. I will continue buying ACANA.Our pup Brinkley was having skin issues in his old age so our vet suggested we switch foods. We tried Acana and not only does he love eating everything now but also his skin issues have cleared up. We love seeing him so happy and energetic. To pricey and my senior dog did not care for this, his poop was coming out kinda like liquid, compare to the non pricey dog foodWill continue having these heart-shaped treats around to have with our morning "coffee".... he loves them!!My dog was a very picky eater but now that I got this dog food she can’t wait to get her breakfast she jumps all over me attacks me once her food it has very high fish contact which is so great for her and it helps her gain weight and her coat is so shinyExpensive, because it's made of MEAT. My dogs run all day and maintain weight and shiny coats. I feel good knowing they are eating the best. After reading a lot of literature on dog "food", it is apparent there is a huge discrepancy between pet "food" and pet "feed" and most of the stuff we feed our companions is feed not food. The FDA guide lines for animal feed, which encompasses most of the over 4,000 pet foods, are shocking, to say the least. The acquisition of formerly trusted names such as Hills, Science Diet, Iams and Blue Buffalo, by giant corporations trading on Brand name history in order to substitute cheaper ingredients to increase profits in the Billion dollar pet food industry makes it all the more difficult to find good quality food for your pet. Thankfully there is the internet where you can search out the good from the evil. Locally, we have a "The Animal Park" store. They only stock quality "food" for pets and have knowledgeable and caring employees. Finding a quality food is easy there. We have new pup and realized the demise of our beloved 10 year old Tucker was probably due to the long term use of pet feed, disguised as food. Doing some research convinced me that instead of 15 or 20 year old pets, 7 to 10 years is more likely due to the crap we unintentionally give them. We live in a consumer dominated society so it should be no surprise that pet survival is cut short in order to increase profits to those industries that cheapen and even create toxic feed. Look up "pet food recalls" and then look into the companies that have been guilty.Acana has no recalls, uses locally (Not China or India) sourced meat and veggies (no nightshades). We tried a smaller size package form Animal Park and gradually changed our pup over to Acana it was just like we were told to expect, because of the higher protein and fat content, it takes less to satisfy him and his stools are firmer and generally smaller. We initially were intending to get Fromm's, but were suggested Acana by the store manager and are glad we did.We have a large Newfoundland x St Bernard girl that absolutely loves this. After doing a lot of research we settled on this due to the high quality ingredients and the fact it is large breed specific with added joint care. As the saying goes "if you put rubbish in, you get rubbish out" and this goes for dog food as well. With this you really are putting good stuff in your dog.Best food out there, no quesrionHigh quality food which my Great Dane lovesFab product , good price will buy againCibo ottimo, il mio cane lo mangiaVolentieri, e prenderò la versione anche x gatti, quando sarà il momento.Il prezzo è alto, ma vale la qualità del prodotto.Acana è un ottimo cibo, consigliato x chi ha cani molto attivi, che si muovono tanto.
